USE OF ‘JUST / YET / STILL / ALREADY ' WITH THE PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

Nos centraremos en el uso de just, already, yet / still, for y since.

JUST

  • Jane has just made a cake. Would you like some?
  • We’ve just bought a new house –
Sujeto + have/has + just + Verbo (Participio) + (Complemento)
just 2

STILL

Ejemplos:
They still haven't left.
I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
She still hasn't forgotten what you did.
They still haven't finished their homework. (Todavía no han acabado sus deberes.)

 ALREADY / YET

  • I have already written the article – Ya he escrito el artículo
 Sujeto + have/has + already + Verbo (Participio) + (Complemento)
already
Yet
  • Have you read it  yet? – Ya lo has leído?
  • No, I haven’t read it yet – No, aún/todavía no lo he leído
  • Negativa:
 Sujeto + haven’t/hasn’t + Verbo (Participio) + (Complemento) + yet
yet
  • Interrogativa
Have/Has + Sujeto + Verbo (Participio) + (Complemento) + yet ?
yet q
***

Still - Yet (diferencias)

still haven‘t invited you.
I haven‘t invited you yet.

I am still reading the book = Yo sigo leyendo el libro. Todavía estoy leyendo el libro.
He is still working.

I haven‘t had a shower yet. : No he tomado una ducha aún.
Have you had a shower yet?: ¿Has tomado la ducha ya?

FOR / SINCE
                           for since
  • I haven’t been to that restaurant for six months –No he estado en ese restaurante por seis meses

SINCE (desde) = DESDE CUÁNDO SE EMPEZÓ LA ACTIVIDAD.
 since 2
  • They haven’t had holidays since last summer –No han tenido vacaciones desde el verano pasado
  • Maya has lived in the USA since 2001–Maya vive en los Estados Unidos desde el 2001

for since

Have you ever…?

¿Alguna vez has..?
have
Posibles respuestas correctas serían:
Yes, …
  • I have!
  • I’ve been to Mercadal (once, twice, etc.).
  • I’ve been there (once, twice, etc.).
No, …
  • I haven’t!
  • I haven’t been to Boston.
  • I haven’t been there.
  • I’ve never been to Madrid.
  • I’ve never been there.

Ejercicios

Usa “already” con el presente perfecto:
1. What time is Harold arriving?

3. Don’t forget to phone your mother.

4. When is Charles going away?

5. Do you want to read the newspaper?
Escribe preguntas con “YET”

Have you started your new job yet?
