ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE
There are two ways
to express an action of a subject in relation to its object:
1.
Active voice
2.
Passive voice
The active
voice is the "normal" voice. The subject (agent) of
sentence performs the action and the object (patient) receives the action of the verb:
Cats eat
fish

Agent Patient
The Passive Voice is used when the focus is on the action.
It is not important or not known, however, who or what is performing the
action.
In the passive voice, the subject receives the action of the
verb:

The direct
object gets promoted to subject, and the subject demoted to an (optional) complement
The object of the active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb:
